McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP and The Korea Society invite you to meet Walter “Skip” Sharp, retired United States Army Four Star General, Senior Strategic Adviser, Korea Society Board Member, and the newest member of MLA's Korea practice. Thomas C. Hubbard, Korea Society Chairman and a former U.S. ambassador to Korea, will make remarks, along with General Sharp, to introduce The Korea Society's role in the US-Korea relationship, as well as to anticipate future programs in Washington sponsored by the Society.
General Sharp is a retired United States Army four-star general, who last served as the Commander, United Nations Command, Commander, ROK-US Combined Forces Command and Commander, U.S. Forces Korea from June 3, 2008 to July 14, 2011. He previously served as the Director of the Joint Staff from 2005 to June 2008. General Sharp retired from the Army in September 2011.
General Sharp is highly experienced with the security, business, cultural, and legal practices in Korea and serves as a member of the board of directors of The Korea Society. He has established relationships with leading Korean companies and numerous ties to the Korean business community. General Sharp graduated from West Point and was commissioned an Armor officer. He earned a Master of Science degree in Operations Research and System Analysis from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He served in combat in Operation Desert Shield and Storm in Iraq, Uphold Democracy in Haiti, and SFOR in Bosnia.
