Football - The Game of Life

We at The Korea Society would like to bring to the attention of our friends and supporters that General James A Van Fleet, founder of The Korea Society, was himself a football champion. He received the Distinguished American Award in 1976, one the National Football Foundation's and College Hall of Fame's most prestigious honors; his acceptance speech is copied below. General Van Fleet played fullback at the U.S. Military Academy--in his senior year the Black Knights were undefeated, was the assistant coach at Kansas State University and head coach at the University of Florida. Needless to say, General Van Fleet had a distinguished military career, too, in Greece and in Korea.
