Stephen Noerper, Senior Director for Policy, has been invited to Korea as a 2021 visiting scholar by the National Institute for Unification Education, under the banner of the Ministry of Unification. Dr. Noerper visited Seoul in October 2019 as a guest of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and as an NIU visiting scholar in 2021, he provides six lectures to diplomats, officials, graduate students and professionals on Korea’s regional relations and unification, with a focus on the Biden Administration's foreign policy and Korea’s management of relations with China. Former visiting scholars include Robert Einhorn and Evans Revere.

Jonathan Corrado, Director for Policy, has been selected to undertake a 12-month Non-resident Kelly Fellowship at Pacific Forum. Under the guidance of the Pacific Forum team, Jonathan will write a paper about the challenges and opportunities for South Korea to enhance engagement with the Free and Open Indo Pacific initiative or “Quad," examining the national security and economic statecraft elements that weigh into Seoul’s calculation as it determines its level of engagement. Jonathan was also selected to participate in the National Committee on American Foreign Policy (NCAFP) Emerging Leaders Program: Next Generation Korea Peninsula Specialists. Under this program, Jonathan will write a paper assessing whether U.S.-South Korea cooperation can help to build supply chain resilience, especially semiconductors, in the Indo Pacific to reduce opportunities for Chinese economic coercion.
