About the National Outreach Program

The Korea Society brings policy and cultural programming to the capitol of the Lone Star State, with a policy discussion on the Korea-U.S. strategic relationship and new business opportunities for corporate leaders, highlights from its recent retrospective of director Hong Sang-soo(The Day He Arrives), a special area Korean War veterans’ screening of Chosin, and school visits. The Korea Society co-hosts with GlobalAustin and the Greater Austin Chamber of Commerce, which sees Korea as its number one foreign investor. Austin is home to Samsung’s only semiconductor manufacturing plant center outside Korea, a $3.6 billion investment, and Samsung Austin Semiconductor is a major area high-tech employer. The Korea Society co-hosts a special session at week’s end in Corpus Christi addressing political and security developments for corporate leaders and members of the World Affairs Council South Texas.
