Healthcare Panel

 

In the next program of our Young Professionals’ Network series, The Korea Society is hosting a panel discussion focused on the pursuit of a career in healthcare.

This session will feature insights from three accomplished healthcare professionals with diverse specializations: Yoona Hwang, Dr. Jaehoon Cho, and Dr. Carey Kim. Whether you’re just starting out or looking to advance your career, this discussion will provide valuable perspectives and actionable guidance.

About the Speakers:

 

Yoona Hwang has been a registered nurse since 2014. With a rich background in medical/surgical, transplantation, occupational health, and holistic IV therapy, she brings a comprehensive approach to patient care. She holds ANCC board certification in nursing informatics.

Currently, Yoona serves as a senior ambulatory nurse at NYU Langone Health while also contributing part-time as a medical advisor at VentureBlick. She graduated from NYU with a master’s degree in Nursing Informatics, earning valedictorian and distinguished student honors.

Yoona is passionate about integrating technology into healthcare to streamline workflows and improve patient care. Her extensive clinical experience combined with her informatics expertise enables her to optimize nursing practices and enhance healthcare delivery systems.

 
 

Dr. Jaehoon Cho, serving as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Digestive Diseases at Columbia University, holds the position of Director of Endoscopy at New York-Presbyterian Westchester Hospital. Dr. Cho is triple board certified and specializes as an interventional gastroenterologist, spearheading the minimally invasive bariatric/weight loss program. Beyond bariatric procedures, he provides expertise in endoscopic interventions for pancreas, bile duct, and a spectrum of gastrointestinal disorders. His specialized skill set encompasses advanced therapies such as endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), stent placement, excision of large polyps, and treatments for Barrett's esophagus. Dr. Cho completed his Gastroenterology training at Brown University and pursued additional specialized training in Interventional Endoscopy at Columbia University Medical Center in New York.

 
 

Dr. Carey Kim is a board-certified dermatologist in Metro Dermatology, Medical Director of The Dermatology Specialist, and Clinical Instructor in academic centers including Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His practice encompasses general, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology with resident and medical student education.

Dr. Kim received his B.S in Biochemistry and M.S in Biophysics and Physiology from Stony Brook University. He earned his M.D at New York Medical College and completed his internal medicine internship at Mount Sinai Beth Israel. He subsequently completed his dermatology residency at New York Medical College and a clinical research fellowship at Columbia University with specialty training in hair loss. Dr. Kim was awarded scholarships through the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and was the recipient of the Rising Derm Star award. Dr. Kim is part of several honorary research and dermatology societies and continues to be active in educational and research work through his hospital affiliations.
