Over the past four months, 16 Youth Ambassadors in New York and Los Angeles have embarked on a journey of self-exploration and intercultural-leadership development that culminated with ten days of total immersion in Korean culture. On May 29th, nine New York-based Youth Ambassadors will share their experiences, including stories from a ten-day study tour to Korea with their Los Angeles partner-organization participants. Current New York City public high school sophomores and juniors are especially welcome to attend and learn more about how to apply to be part of Project Bridge 2013-2014.

For the eight New York high school participants, the 2012 - 2013 Project Bridge Program served as an opportunity for students of varied backgrounds to explore their rich surroundings through open dialogue, focused readings and a trip to South Korea in the Spring. The bi-monthly sessions served as an introduction to a host of issues spanning race relations in the US and the L.A. Race Riots to the Japanese occupation and resistance movements within Korea.
Following months of discussion, the New York and Los Angeles groups met in South Korea for a ten day study tour. The Youth Ambassadors were given a tour of the Korea International Trade Association, COEX, Hyundai Motors and POSCO. On the cultural side, the students were taken to the famous Jagalchi Fish Market, the National Museum of Gyeongju as well as Ch’angdok Palace.
