Join us as we welcome renowned businesswoman Angie Byun as she reflects on her career as a leader in the media, entertainment, and fashion industries. Learn insider secrets about her executive roles with Vogue, GQ, The New Yorker, Wired, and Golf Digest and how those experiences helped her land her current position as CEO at AB WORLD. The discussion will be led by moderator Asiah James, Director of Emerging Audiences at Condé Nast, followed by a Q&A session.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:



Angie Byun is the CEO of AB WORLD -- a global consultancy representing leading U.S., Asian and international media, entertainment and lifestyle companies with their international business ventures – with a strong focus on maximizing intellectual property assets in Asia and strategic markets around the world.

Prior to starting AB WORLD, Angie was at Condé Nast for 13 years and held various executive level positions in new business development, sales and international licensing for brands like VOGUE, GQ, THE NEW YORKER, WIRED, and GOLF DIGEST – successfully launching and managing new international editions, digital products, experiences, global advertising buys and over 100+ brand extensions in 30+ markets worldwide. As one of the most senior Asian American business women in media, she is also actively involved in Diversity and Inclusion initiatives and has a strong track record of leading diverse teams and bringing emerging brands and multicultural talent into the forefront of the entertainment, luxury and sports industry.

Angie received her J.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison Law School, B.A. in Political Science and History from the University of California at Berkeley, and has also studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics at New College, Oxford University.



ABOUT THE MODERATOR:



Asiah James is currently the Director of Emerging Audiences at Condé Nast, launching a new Commercial Revenue function that creates audience first marketing and data strategies. James joined Condé Nast in 2016 focusing on marketing strategy, campaign execution and content development. James is also the chair of the Women’s Network at Condé Nast, and an Inaugural Member of the Global Diversity Employee Committee.

Before joining Condé Nast, James held multiple marketing and brand development positions at Ebony magazine, BBC America and NBC to name a few. Across the brands, James focused on the exponential social and digital growth of global account lists, becoming a recognizable marketing partner.

A proud graduate of the Fashion Institute of Technology, James received her B.S. degree in Advertising and Marketing Communications with a minor in Economics.
