On January 13, the Council of Korean Americans and the Korea Economic Institute of America presented the Korean American Day Award to now-President & CEO of The Korea Society, Abraham Kim, recognizing his visionary leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and decades of dedicated service to the Korean American community.

Scott Snyder, President & CEO of the Korea Economic Institute of America, delivered remarks:

He approaches his work with intentionality, and it’s an intentionality that is built around connection. I think that that is both a set of characteristics that has embodied what he has done at CKA and it’s also a set of attributes that will serve him well as he moves to The Korea Society as their new president.

January 13, 2026 marked 123 years since the arrival of the first Korean immigrants to the United States in 1903. The Korean American community’s enduring spirit and impact across cultural, economic, and diplomatic spheres inspires and empowers the day-to-day work of The Korea Society. As the first Korean American president in its 69-year history, TKS is grateful for the opportunity to celebrate Dr. Abraham Kim in commemoration of this historical achievement.

Founded in 1957, The Korea Society is a nonpartisan, nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to promoting greater awareness, understanding, and cooperation between the U.S. and Korea.
