Description:
The Korea Society’s Education department is seeking a talented and dedicated intern with demonstrated interest and background in Korean Studies and the Arts. We are seeking an intern with strong administrative, event planning, and research/writing skills as well as interest in Korean culture, interactive arts programming, family programs, and curriculum development.
As an Education Intern, you will build networking relationships with Korean Studies experts, artists, and education industry leaders. You will conduct research on organizations and individuals, as well as track and monitor current events related to curriculum and pedagogy. You will gain exposure to non-profit organizations and learn database management as well as event planning and public/press outreach.
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- * Research potential speakers, artists, funding sources, and partner organizations
- * Maintain information on current curriculum standards and pedagogical trends
- * Develop and update online curriculum resources
- * Design brochures, flyers, and outreach materials
- * Assist with on-site program management including reception and registration, event A/V tasks, setup and breakdown, and attending and reporting on Korea related events
- * Utilize social media to promote education and family programs
- * Assist with on-going educational projects such as documentaries and special events
Qualifications:
- * Background in Education, Korean Studies, History, Arts, Anthropology
- * Strong research, writing, and editing skills with excellent attention to detail
- * Capable of handling multiple tasks with strong event planning experience a plus
- * Proficient in using social media tools such as Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube
- * Previous experience in communications, outreach and media relations a plus
- * Self-driven with a professional demeanor with a desire to excel
- * Works well with diverse individuals such as children, teachers, and art professionals
- * Korean language skills preferred
Schedule:
Internships are unpaid positions. Please note that we do not provide visa support. Candidates are required to commit to a minimum of 12 weeks, and two to three days per week, or the equivalent of 15-20 hours per week; evening availability once or twice a month for events.
