2015 11 18 studentnight icon All students and graduates are welcome to join The Korea Society's Student Night! With panelists participating from a variety of industries and fields, this Student Night will provide networking opportunities and valuable advice to current students and recent graduates in a precarious time for employment. Panelists include representatives from the Federal Reserve Bank, HBO, Korilla BBQ, L'Oreal, and New York Classical Players.

No affliation to or interest in Korea is required to attend.

About the Speakers

Peggy Kauh

Peggy KauhSenior AssociateFederal Reserve Bank of New York

Peggy Kauh has over 15 years of experience in the public sector, ranging from college internships on Capitol Hill to her current position as a Senior Associate in the Markets Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, where she is currently leading efforts to expand the group’s trading and analytical capabilities. Ms. Kauh was previously an Operations Manager in the Markets Group, responsible for directing the execution and risk management of U.S. Treasury open market operations, and monitoring trading activity and liquidity conditions in the Treasury market and domestic money markets. Prior to joining the Federal Reserve Bank, Ms. Kauh worked for the New York City Department of Finance on a special project to develop innovative technology processes to improve city services. Ms. Kauh currently resides in New York City and Chicago, and she remains active in community service and fundraising for nonprofits. Ms. Kauh received her Master of Public Administration from the School of International and Public Affairs at Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Economics from Barnard College.

Sorah Kim is a Marketing Manager at L'Oréal USA who graduated from the The University of Texas at Austin in 2011. She has built a relationship with L'Oréal USA since her junior year in college as a case competition winner and a summer intern. Upon graduating, she moved to NYC and has worked on prestige haircare brands like Kérastase Paris and Shu Uemura Art of Hair. Currently, she manages two haircare brands within L'Oréal Professionnel, and is simultaneously pursuing a Master's of Professional Studies in Cosmetics And Fragrance Marketing & Management at the Fashion Institute of Technology (C/O 2016).

Conductor Dongmin Kim is the founder and Music Director of the New York Classical Players (NYCP). Highlights of Mr. Kim’s career include appearances as guest conductor of the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center as well as a series of sold-out performances of The Magic Flute with the Seoul Arts Center Festival Orchestra. He been on the podium with the orchestras of Florida, Minnesota and Philadelphia, the Baltimore, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Memphis, San Antonio, Virginia and Winnipeg symphonies, as well as the Orquesta Filarmonica de la UNAM, the Rheinland-Pfalz State Philharmonic and the Ensemble Zandonai. A native of Seoul, Korea, Mr. Kim studied Orchestral Conducting under David Effron, Thomas Baldner and Imre Pallo at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University (IU), where he taught the graduate conducting courses and served as music director of the IU All-Campus Orchestra.  He also served as the assistant conductor of the IU Opera Theater and the IU New Music Ensemble. Prior to his studies in the United States, Mr. Kim graduated from Yonsei University, where he was awarded the Music Merit Scholarship.  Mr. Kim currently resides in New York with his wife, Sally S. Yang.

In addition to holding an MBA from NYU, Matthew has completed courses in Korean language and business at Yonsei University and Seoul National University respectively and travels to Seoul on a regular basis.

Saemi Lee
Senior Designer, Gensler

Since joining Gensler, Saemi has been an integral part of the core project team for the Workplace and Community Practice Areas including consumer products, financial services, law, media and publishing firms as well as education, master planning and building repositioning. Saemi has recently completed new work place for Coty, Inc., Crain Communications, and Warner Music Group, and is currently working on Paul Hastings new New York office, Executive Training Center for JP Morgan Chase, and new work place for Nars Cosmetics and 21st Century Fox. Saemi came to the States during high school. She has a bachelor of architecture degree from Carnegie Mellon University.
