“Silk may survive five hundred years, but paper will withstand a thousand”—Korean adage
Join us at the ArtGate Gallery on Thursday, June 28th for an evening with Seung Chul Lee, a renowned scholar of Hanji, traditional Korean handmade paper, and Bojagi, Korean wrapping fabric, as we celebrate his new solo exhibition Adhesion Paradox and the recent publication of his book Hanji: Everything You Need to Know About Traditional Korean Paper. Experience traditional Korean art in a thoroughly contemporary light through his exhibition, featuring two large-scale interactive multimedia installations—a square house illustrating the story of Korea and hanging columns of musical sounds. Lee will also treat us to a demonstration of the process of natural paper dyeing and introduce the exhibit and new book. Don’t miss this wonderful midsummer evening of art, friends, and refreshing cocktails on the gallery patio.
