About the Speaker:

Donghyun Kim is a Korean heritage curator and the direct, eighteenth generation descendant of Siseup Kim (1435-1493), an early Joseon period tea connoisseur, literatus, and author of the first Korean classical novel, Geumoshinhwa. He established ROHAE, a curatorial research studio, through which he reinterprets and modernizes Siseup Kim's tea practices and aesthetics.

In addition to his research positions previously held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Whitney Museum of American Art, Kim has also collaborated with Seoul’s Arumjigi Culture Keepers Foundation and Michelin-starred Onjium Cultural Center in tea culture research projects. He holds a B.F.A. in Photography from the School of Visual Arts and an M.A. in Art History and Education from Columbia University.
